Luis E. Lugo entered into heaven on Saturday, November 19, 2011 with his loving family at his side. Devoted husband of Alida Buller Lugo for 53 years. Loving father of Andre' L. Lugo (Cindy), Carlos E. Lugo (Melissa), George M. Lugo (Evelynn) and John S. Lugo (Rae Ann). A very proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Son of the late Aparicia Lugo and preceded in death by his sister and brothers; Angelina Lugo, Pablo Lugo, Modesto Lugo and Miguel Angel Escribano. He was also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Age 84, a native of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico and a resident of Metairie. Luis served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a POW for 2 years. During his time in service he was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked 30 years with the Internal Revenue Service as an agent and received the Albert Gallatin Award for his outstanding service upon retiring in 1985. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Canon Hospice for their compassionated care.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie. Visitation from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the , 2605 River Rd. New Orleans, LA 70121 will be appreciated.
