Masks from Korea
In order to help protect the Korean War Veterans from the spread of COVID-19 two shipments of 1000 face masks were sent by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Myung-Soo Ahn to be distributed to the Louisiana veterans.
In order to help protect the Korean War Veterans against the spread of COVID-19 on January 5 and 26, 2021, two shipments of 2500 face masks were sent by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Myung-Soo Ahn to be distributed to the Louisiana veterans.
A letter from Prime Minister, Chung Sye-Kyun, stated,
“Dear UN veterans of the Korean War and their families,
I am pleased to send you my warm greetings from the republic of Korea. I wonder how you are doing at a time when all of us are having a difficult time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UN veterans fought together with us to defend freedom and secure peace in Korea seven decades ago. On the basis of their sacrifice and contributions, Korea has achieved economic development and established a mature democracy.
Thanks to UN veterans, Korea has built a free and prosperous nation as it is today, which has never been forgotten among Korean people. As a way to make a return for the sacrifice and contribution of UN veterans, Korea is sending you masks again as it did in May this year. Although the masks are miserable compared with such sacrifice and contributions, I hope that they will help you in dealing with the current pandemic.
Korea will continue to remember and honor all the UN veterans of the Korean War for their sacrifice and contributions and to maintain its ties with the UN veterans’ descendants. Moreover, the Korean government will strengthen friendly cooperation with the 22 UN sending states.
As we got together to overcome difficulties seventy years ago, we will be able to overcome the current COVID-19 crisis if we stand together.
I truly hope to meet you in person and express my deepest gratitude to when the COVID-19 pandemic subsides in the near future. I wish you stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Chung Sye-kyun
Prime Minister, Republic of Korea
