Fridge Jr., John W. "Jack" "Doc" John W. "Jack" Fridge Jr., also known as "Doc" by all of his Marine buddies, retired from GE Medical Systems with 40 years of service. A resident of Denham Springs, he passed away at 7:12 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at his home. He was 80 and a former lifelong resident of the New Orleans area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later attached with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. During his time in World War II, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific 1 star, the American Area World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. During the Korean conflict, he was awarded The Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with two stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home chapel, Denham Springs, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Katherine Abbott Fridge of Denham Springs; sons, John David Sr. and wife Ellen Thompson Fridge of Harahan and Mark Daniel Sr. and wife Lisa Wartberg Fridge of Denham Springs; grandchildren, John David Fridge Jr., Mark Daniel Fridge Jr., Michael Abbott Fridge, Katie Fridge Watts and husband Thomas C. Watts, Kelly Elizabeth Fridge, Scott Quarles Fridge, Julie Beth Fridge, John W. "Jack" Fridge III, Austin James Fridge; great-grandchild, Mark Daniel Fridge III; stepgreat-grandchildren, Gracie and Thomas Watts; sister-in-law, Barbara Price Fridge of River Ridge; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Sr. and Ollie Lee Fridge; and a brother, Paul Fredrick Fridge. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division Association, Paul E. Boyd Detachment #579 Marine Corps League, and American Legion Post 397.
